Hot Coffee

If I could drink coffee all day
The night would remain far away.
My life would be heaven
Wired twenty-four seven
And I'd do twice the things that I may.

If my coffee were replaced by tea,
It wouldn't be as nice, you see,
As it seems watered down
For schoolgirls and clowns
And lacking the bite for me.

Should cream and sugar fall in my cup,
I wouldn't know down from up,
Since sweetness and milk
Are too nice for my ilk,
An old hound am I not a pup.

So give it to me dark and black.
Hot and piping, it's better than smack.
But too much it seems
Disturbs my sleep and my dreams
And could possibly cause heart attack.
