The Ides of March

This painting by Guy Tensen is aptly-titled, The Ides of March, depicting symbolically the events which transpired at 308 1/2 Main Street in Ames, Iowa, on the evening of March 15, 1991.

Do you know the symbolism of this painting? If so, please comment.

Incidentally, this is my favorite of Guy's paintings.

Actually, the date of that infamous evening was March 16, 1991, as a look at an old calendar confirmed. Close enough to the Ides of March to count, anyway.

This works out better for our friend, Loren, as his wife's birthday is the 15th, and his engaging in such reprehensible behavior on her special day would be intolerable.
