Bescherung!
Gentle readers,
It is my hope that you all had a nice Jul holiday, complete with the company of loved ones and perhaps something good to eat. Not to be missed, of course, is that part of the yearly celebration which fits in nicely with our globalized, post-industrial, capitalist economy: namely, die Bescherung, that wonderful German word describing the giving and receiving of gifts. Here is a photo received on Yggdrasil through our squirrely messenger, Ratatoskr, of two happy Christmas campers, Katie and Karl Christensen, as they score big during their Bescherung under the Weihnachtsbaum.
