Yggdrasil Girl of the Week

This week's Yggdrasil Girl of the Week is our first non-human cutie, the new baby polar bear at our local Nürnberg zoo. She was taken from her mother, Vera, yesterday after Vera exhibited some nervous, pacing behaviour with the baby carried in her mouth, like a cat, and dropped the baby several times. The Nürnberg zoo wanted obviously to avoid a similar tragedy like that last weekend when another polar bear mother ate both of her young.

Not yet named, the baby should be a gold mine for the Nürnberger Tiergarten, as Eisbär Knut was last year for the Berlin zoo. She is four weeks old and currently weighs 1700 grams.
