More on the Disappearance of the Bees
Here's an interesting round table discussion in a Salon article by Kevin Berger entitled, "Who killed the honeybees?" The assembled experts dismiss outright the contention that cell phone radiation is affecting the bees, but as you can see after reading it, they really don't have a clear answer as to why the bees are disappearing. Biotech crops and global climate change are discussed as possible causes. Also pointed out was a decrease in other pollinators such as butterflies and moths, although the evidence was anecdotal. Interestingly, one of the reader letters from a physicist does maintain that the cell phone hypothesis is still feasible.
In any case, it will be a rather bland affair at the table should insect-pollinated fruits and vegetables not be available. Shut up and eat your gruel, children!
