Room 101 3/5 Reunited
In my fantasy I imagine a king size bed with ruby red satin sheets. The room is in the shape of a heart and it sits high a top a Las Vegas casino. Inside the room there are over sized bean bag chairs with sippy cup holders and giant clear canisters dispensing pure dairy butter, cream, and whole milk. Three live chickens scurry about the room nipping at a horned toad and the music of Icehouse plays softly in the background. For treats and snacks there are baskets of fresh fruit, blocks of blue cheese, and Doritos by the bushel full. Everyone in the room is wearing a different style hat and there are holy alters with bowls full of classic 80's colognes like polo and drakar noir free for the taking. Drugs are plentiful in my fantasy but yet everyone abstains because soon the magical and mystical sounds of 3/5 Room 101 is about to wash over the zombie like crowd of well wishers and hangers on. The opening song performed by Jim, Will, and Stingray was none other than a cover of Christina's new chart topper "Candyman". During the chorus Loren smeared Hershey's chocolate syrup all over a freshly shaved great dane while Guy took up smoking again. In the end we all joined hands and sung the chorus to John Lennon's "Mother" and that was it. Fantasy over.
Actually that was almost exactly how it happened in Eden Prairie, MN when 3/5 of Room 101 got back together after an 11 year break. We dined and admired each others hair and then played Styx songs. Good to see you boys again and let's shoot for the big summer reunion bash. For those of you who weren't there which was everybody else in the world, you really missed out. We channeled Nillson, Hendrix, and Petula Clark while playing our instruments upside down and backwards and then stopped. It was good. Wish you could have been there.
